If
the white cliffs of Dover are
actually a smoky gray, that is the
color of the most formal guest room
with its red leather wing-back chair
and the unusual old brass bed. The
worn, red oriental rug and great
grandmother Eldridge’s
hand-crocheted bedspread bring the
past alive. An Audubon print of the
Trumpeter Swan greets the guests and
the old, restored heart-pine floors
are warm and inviting.
This
room includes its own vanity (shares
the 1 ½ baths on the hall), TV/VCR,
antique mantel, alarm clock/CD
player, ceiling fan and high-speed
internet access. Guests may also
use the breakfast room across the
hall for reading, working at the
computer desk, watching the news or
simply letting their partner sleep a
little longer. ($80 Weekend/$70 Weekday.) |
