 uilt in 1912,
the restoration of Haughton Hall began in 2003. The most memorable
features of Haughton Hall are the original pressed tin ceilings in
the foyer, parlor and dining room and the three original stained
glass windows which cheerfully reflect the indoor lights in the
evening. Antique furnishings from the Manning, Peel, Hutchinson and
Eldridge families are scattered throughout the twelve room National
Registry home.
There are 3
guest rooms, each with its own unique décor – the Outer Banks, Olde
England and the Orient --, and each has a TV/VCR with cable, ceiling
fan, vanity, alarm clock/CD player, high speed internet access and
excellent mattresses. Other features include: library with TV/VCR/DVD,
microwave, refrigerator, timed coffeemaker, water
cooler, weight
room, spa, goldfish pond, two canoes and ferrying back and forth to
the drop-off and pick-up spots along the Roanoke River. Bicycles
are available.
For breakfast,
guests can enjoy a home cooked Southern meal including eggs, bacon,
sausage, grits, breads, seasonal fruits and juices. There is a
separate breakfast room upstairs for guests who prefer not to eat in
the formal dining room.
